Pamplona (EFE).- The Coordinator of Women’s and/or Feminist Organizations for Equality (COMFIN) received the Berdinna 2032 Award this Wednesday for its work in favor of a “more egalitarian and feminist Navarra and a better place in the than to live”.
This was stated by President María Chivite at the ceremony that, within the framework of International Women’s Day events, was held in the Throne Room of the Palacio de Navarra. The main authorities of the Foral Community and representatives of the associations that make up COMFIN have met at the event.
This 2023 Berdinna Equality Award is “the recognition of all of Navarra” for its “involvement” in achieving “effective equality between men and women”, said Chivite.
Forty associations with a constant and daily work
On behalf of COMFIN, its president, Yolanda Rodríguez, has highlighted that there are 40 associations with constant and daily work because “united we are strong”. They have already been working for eleven years in favor of equality throughout the territory of the community and “participating actively in public policies” and now also in the demand for budgets with a gender perspective, she has said.
In addition, in this electoral year, COMFIN demands a balance from the parties in all candidacies, also in the heads of the list, parity in subsequent positions, an expansion of public employment. Their demands also include universal education in the 0-3 cycle, reduction of the wage and pension gap, measures against violence against women, an observatory for the monitoring and evaluation of equality policies and cases of violence. of gender, a commitment to rural women and the empowerment of the associative fabric.
These are years of “commitment, effort and feminist struggle” that have made COMFIN “engine, promoters and part of the change that has brought us here, which has paved the way to place the fight for equality at the center of political action ”, the president maintained in her speech. At the same time, he has recognized that the work “has not been easy”, especially in matters such as coeducation or the right to abortion, and that he finds “the path to success” in “the strength of union and in the conviction that the feminism is the way”.
Collective work and struggle for a “fair” claim
For this reason, he thanked COMFIN for the collective work, solidarity and fight for a “fair” demand that he has carried out throughout the community, making equality “a cohesion tool”. He has also valued the “perseverance”, the “commitment” and the work to involve the institutions and make Navarra a “freer and fairer” space, although he has indicated that “the greatest inequality” remains to be overcome, sexist violence .
“Navarra is the Spanish region with the highest rate of female achievement” but “we also have room for improvement” in matters such as conciliation or equal opportunities in management positions, for which reason she has asked not to assume any rights and “to remain united and firm” against those who intend to roll back what has been achieved, “a real threat”
Equality through cooperation
Before, Vice President Javier Remírez also highlighted COMFIN’s contribution to equality through cooperation, of an intersectional feminism that takes all women into account and that promotes training and empowerment to promote the feminist agenda.
He thus recalled that COMFIN has promoted the purple route, set up a bank of good practices, promotes a space for reflection and participation in acts and mobilizations for the eradication of violence and against inequality, which it also combats with initiatives and contributions to the institutions.
COMFIN is “without a doubt an agent of change to move towards an inclusive and egalitarian society”, he stated. Remírez recalled that his aims are those of thousands of women who, through associationism, are being able to “promote decisive advances” that require public policies, for which he has opted for equality to permeate all spaces and institutions and the commitment of men with feminism.
