Sports writing (EFE).- The Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who two days ago was proclaimed European indoor champion in the 1,500m in Istanbul (Turkey), once again won gold in the 3,000m, after a career in which he dominated from the beginning and in which the Spanish Adel Mechaal finished second. Quique Llopis was unable to finish the 60m hurdles final after suffering a fall
Ingebrigtsen, at 22 years old, continues to collect gold metal medals in each championship in which she participates. In Istanbul he won two gold medals in just forty-eight hours in the 1,500 and 5,000, two tests that he completely dominated, demonstrating tremendous superiority over his rivals.
Eleven golds for the Norwegian in Europe
With this victory in the 3,000 in Istanbul, the Norwegian athlete has eleven gold medals in Europe (four outdoors, five indoors and two in cross country) to which must be added the 1,500 Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 and the world championship outdoors in 5,000 in Eugene 2022 and the silvers in 1,500 in Eugene and in the European Championship in Belgrade, on the indoor track, also last year.

Ingebrigtsen dominated the race from the beginning and, from the thousand meters, she took the lead to set the pace she wanted at all times until stopping the clock in 7:40.32, the Norwegian record for the distance.
The only one who followed him until almost the end was Adel Mechaal, who could not stand the last change in pace with one hundred meters to go, in which the Norwegian opened a gap on the track to go solo. The Catalan crossed the finish line in 7:41.75 to get the silver medal.
Third was the Serbian Elzan Bibic, who recorded 7:44.03.
Adel Mechaal’s silver medal is the culmination of a good winter indoor season in which he also won the Spanish Indoor 3,000m Championship in Madrid and broke the national record of 1,500m in Birmingham with 3 :33.28.

Llopis: “All the tests have gone well, now it’s time to recover”
The Valencian Quique Llopis, who could not finish the final of the 60 meter hurdles after suffering a fall, reported from a hospital in the Turkish city that the medical tests to which he was subjected came out “fine”.
Llopis, who at first collapsed on the ground after hitting his head hard, was examined for a few minutes on the track itself by the medical services of the venue and the Spanish federation. Later he was removed on a stretcher and transferred to a hospital in the Turkish city.
“Everything is alright. All the tests have gone well. Thank the federation and all the medical services. Now to recover,” said Llopis, in a message broadcast from the hospital by the RFEA.
