Los Angeles (USA), Mar 6 (EFE).- Lionel Messi, winner of the last World Cup in Qatar 2022 with the Argentine team, will have his own animated series, the specialized magazine Deadline announced exclusively on Monday.
The project will be produced by Sony Music Entertainment in collaboration with Leo Messi Management.
“Since I was a child I have always liked animated series and my children are big ‘fans’ of animated characters.” Messi told Deadline.
“Being able to participate in an animation project makes me happy because it fulfills one of my dreams,” added the PSG star.
Messi, the star of Sony’s first animation
The series will be aimed at children and adolescents and will show the recent winner of the World Cup as a child and the obstacles he will have to face while traveling through a video game.
The project, which will be produced in English, Spanish and other languages, will feature original music by as-yet-unannounced Sony artists and composers.
This will be the first animated series created by Sony Music Entertainment, a company that in the past has made documentaries such as “Pearl Jam 20” or “Cypress Hill: Insane in the Brain.”
A privilege to portray Messi
Sony executive Fernando Cabral assured in Deadline that it is “a privilege” for the company to have the opportunity to portray the strength and lessons of the sport thanks to Messi, chosen on February 27 as the best player of 2022 by FIFA.
Messi is the footballer who has played the most games in different World Cups and the only one who has won the Ballon d’Or from the French magazine France Football seven times.
On December 18, the best player in the final and the 2022 World Cup, which Argentina won for the third time in its history, was chosen.
