Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia) (EFE).- The Minister of Territorial Policy and spokesperson for the Government of Spain, Isabel Rodríguez, has assured that feminism is “good” for the economy and that it is necessary to continue intervening with policies and regulations that guarantee equality and advancement of the country.
In a public act in Aguilar de Campoo, where she has shared the bill with three other women, the Secretary of Organization of the PSCyL, Ana Sánchez; the secretary of the PSOE of Palencia, Miriam Andrés; and the socialist candidate for Mayor of Aguilar, Cristina Párbole, the minister spokesperson has taken advantage of the proximity of the celebration of March 8 to talk about feminism and equality.
Rodríguez has spoken about the advances that the socialist governments have achieved so far and in particular that of Pedro Sánchez, and has affirmed that “the advances in this country have the face of a woman” with very important laws that put Spain at the center of Europe .
New law on equal representation
Specifically, he referred to the new law on equal representation between men and women that will be brought to the Council of Ministers this week and announced yesterday by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, stating that it will be a new advance to achieve the equal presence of men and women in all representative bodies, in political parties, in governments and in business.

The minister has assured that this law will be seen by the international context as a cutting-edge law that will make this country better off and that it will allow “women to be represented on boards of directors, in professional associations and in governments as we are in society”.
Moreover, he has stated that with this bet “Spain is betting on economic growth of 15-20%” and has referred to the IMF estimates that indicate that the GDP of a country would increase by these percentages if 50 were used. % of female talent in economic fields.
That is why he has said that feminism is good for the economy and that equality strengthens the country, so it is necessary for the Government to continue intervening to achieve equality.
“Equality, in addition to a necessary advance for society, is profitable from an economic point of view and it is not intelligent to do without the gaze and talent of half the population,” he insisted.
The minister has spoken of the numerous advances of the Government in the matter of equality, has boasted of a feminist perspective in all its policies and has regretted that the PP has not been able to be at the side of the Executive in all these steps.
“Those who seek confrontation are already preparing,” he warned in relation to the law that will be approved this week.
“I am already seeing Feijóo giving orders to draft an appeal for unconstitutionality before this rule is approved, continued the minister, who regretted that despite the evidence, the PP is continually “blocking and boycotting” .
In this sense, he has warned that “the PP has not woken up as a feminist this week” because it is the same party that governs with Vox in Castilla y León, and “blessed” the pact in this community that wants women to go back on their rights.
That is why he has insisted that the Government of Spain is going to continue advancing “with facts and regulations that benefit women” because the PSOE has not lost its horizon and has a project for the future “with a woman’s face”.
“We know well where we want to take our country. Neither the pandemics, nor the Philomenas, nor the volcanoes, have managed to prevent women from continuing to advance”, the minister has settled, but not before listing “the great steps” that are being taken in the fight for equality.
For all this, he has ensured that the labor reform that is allowing stable contracts, equal permits between men and women, the SMI, care for children, and recognizing the work of all women or the increase in pensions “is feminism”.
“It is feminism to look to the future and for the future to have the face of a woman”, concluded Rodríguez, who thanked the courageous and responsible step taken by the candidate for Mayor of Aguilar de Campoo, Cristina Párbole.
