Palma, Mar 4 (EFE).- Members of island and regional organizations continue this Saturday with work to clear some 107 kilometers of roads from snow and trees fallen by storm Juliette, almost all of them in the Serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca.
According to the latest information compiled by the Council of Mallorca, the Ma-10 road, which runs along the mountain, between kilometers 6 and 47.5 (Fornalutx-Pollença), is closed to traffic; the Ma-11A, from Coll de Sóller (from kilometers 17 to 27.7) and the Ma-2100, from Bunyola to Orient (from kilometers 1 to 10).
The Ma-2141, Sa Calobra road, is also inaccessible due to the cut off of the Ma-10; the one from Formentor, Ma-2210 (from kilometer 2 to 19.6) and the Ma-3433, from Sa Pobla to Playa de Muro (from the start to kilometer 8). The Ma-1140, from S’Esgleita to Palmanyola, is deviated from the kilometer points 0.4 to 1.1.
The Military Emergency Unit (UME), deployed to Mallorca at dawn on Wednesday, completed its support work for the island’s security and emergency forces on Friday, and the staff of the Institute have also completed their work in the joint device Balearic of Nature.
On Friday afternoon, 16 people isolated by snow in Cala Tuent and Sa Calobra were evacuated by sea to the port of Sóller.
The Balearic Government has appealed to the public to avoid traveling to the Serra de Tramuntana during the weekend and the Civil Guard will control access to avoid problems on open roads.
