Valencia (EFE).- Ford Spain has communicated to the representatives of the workers of the production plant of Almussafes (Valencia) the opening of an employment regulation file (ERE).
In an internal statement to the staff, the management has transferred its intention to open a consultation period to apply an ERE and urges them to form the negotiating commission within a period of seven days, according to union sources.
The plant, with a workforce of 5,800 workers, has an ERTE in force until June 30, due to the lack of components and semiconductors and supply problems due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the increase in the incidence of covid in China.
It currently manufactures between 1,100 and 1,200 daily units of the Kuga, Transit, S-Max and Galaxy models. In April it will stop producing the last two, as announced by the company a few months ago to advance the strategy towards full electrification in 2035.
The Valencian plant will develop the new electric vehicles of the GE2 platform, an announcement that came after an electrification agreement between UGT and the European management of the multinational.
In the last two years, two employment regulation files have been carried out in 2020 and 2021 for which a thousand workers have left the plant, as well as successive ERTEs.
