Armengol thanked the “immense work” of the approximately 80 specialists from various bodies who, since Tuesday, have been working on cleaning the roads, rescuing people isolated in the mountains and restoring the electricity supply, a problem that, according to progress has been made, it will be resolved this Thursday.
The priority is the work of rescuing people who remain incommunicado in isolated buildings in the areas of Cala Tuent, sa Calobra and Orient, to whom they are trying to access with the helicopters of the Civil Guard, the Military Emergency Unit (UME) and the Balearic Institute of Nature (Ibanat).
In parallel, the president has indicated, reconnaissance flights are carried out to verify that no one is in danger in the most isolated farms and some residents of these houses have been supplied with basic products.
The last evacuation, as reported by the 112 emergency coordination service, has been that of two minors and two isolated adults in the area of Cala Tuent and Sa Calobra, who have been transferred to the Inca hospital by helicopter.
Another twenty people who remain in this area have received food and medicine and have decided to remain in their homes.
“There is no knowledge of anyone who is in danger or with urgent needs,” highlights the Government, which points out that the 1,300 subscribers without electricity supply could recover it before the end of the day.
Armengol has reiterated the appeal to all citizens to avoid unnecessary trips to the Serra de Tramuntana, either by car or for excursions. “The risk of accidents continues to be high and they can endanger themselves and the emergency services and, in addition, it is necessary that the roads are not occupied so that the troops can move quickly,” he remarked.
Armengol was accompanied by the Government delegate, Aina Calvo, the president of the Mallorca Council, Catalina Cladera, and various senior institutional officials and heads of security forces.
According to the latest data update from the Consell de Mallorca, ten sections of roads are closed due to accumulated snow, and fallen trees and rocks on the road.
The Ma-10 roads are closed, which runs along the Serra de Tramuntana, between kilometers 6 and 47.5 (Fornalutx-Pollença); the Ma-11A, from Coll de Sóller (from kilometers 16.9 to 27.7); the Ma-2100, in the 18 kilometers from Bunyola to Orient, and the Ma-1140, from S’Esgleita to Palmanyola (from the kilometer points 0.4 to 1.1).
