Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky said tonight in his usual speech to the population that cities and districts on the front line are subject “to Russian bombardment every day and night.”
“It’s deliberate terror. Nikopol and other communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Zaporiyia, Jershon and its region, the frontline part of Donbas, Kharkov and its region, the provinces of Sumi and Chernígov” suffer these attacks, he said.
In Bakhmut, the center of the fighting, there are still 4,500 civilians
In the city of Bakhmut, in eastern Ukraine, a strategic point where the fighting between Russians and Ukrainians is currently focused, there are still 4,500 civilians out of the more than 70,000 who resided in this city.
The mayor of the city, Oleksiy Reva, recounted on his Facebook account how painful the siege of this city is being for its citizens, whose control would ensure a corridor for the Russians to transfer weapons and soldiers throughout eastern Ukraine.
“There are heavy battles for our Bakhmut. It is painful to see what the enemy bombs are doing to the city, what they are turning a community into”, lamented Reva.
“Now 4,500 inhabitants remain in the city. Residents receive food, water and hygiene products. We continue to bring bread to the city, twice a week for 5,000 servings”, added the mayor.
But “it is extremely dangerous (circular) in Bakhmut. The enemy mercilessly destroys the city, cripples and kills civilians. Until today, the Russians have destroyed more than 4,400 residential buildings. There is no forgiveness for them!” Reva added.
The mayor of this city accompanies his comments on Facebook with several photographs of streets and buildings completely destroyed by Russian attacks.
In the area, belonging to the Donetsk region of Ukraine, the so-called Wagner group operates, a team of mercenaries linked to the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, who are already fighting street by street against the Ukrainians to control the city.
