Barcelona (EFE).- Artificial Intelligence (AI), popularized this year by ChatGpt, has burst into the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where 38 Spanish companies have displayed their innovations in the Spanish Pavilion and exhibit to the world the technological potential of the country.
Thousands of people have visited the Spanish Pavilion since last Monday, organized by Red.es, where companies from nine autonomous regions show their advances not only in AI, but also in geolocation, cybersecurity, ‘smart cities’ (smart cities), ‘ big data’ (macrodata), ‘cloud’ (cloud) 3D, 5G, IoT (internet of things), ‘blockchain’ (chain of blocks) and metaverse.
Thus, companies such as ATLS are exhibiting their technology, one of the most important translation companies in southern Europe and with expectations of increasing its turnover by 40% (up to 6.5 million euros) and acquiring “several Spanish translation companies” in 2023, its CEO, Stéphane Magnard, told EFE.
It is a Barcelona-based company that has developed all its technology in Spain and uses a translation model that goes beyond the popular ChatGPT, he points out.
ChatGPT uses a GPT-3.5 artificial intelligence language model -developed by the OpenAI company-, which, although it has a great capacity to generate a coherent text, is based on an automated model and develops a literal translation.
ATLS goes deeper and uses machine learning systems—deep neural networks—that analyze large amounts of text and put it into context, he says.
Added to this is a team of professionals who carry out a human translation, he adds.
With more than fifty employees, 30% of the Ibex companies are its clients, in addition to “almost all” the banks and large insurers.
40% more profitability
In the pavilion there are also Spanish companies whose solutions serve to improve the results of other companies.
This is the case of Boalvet, based in Seville, which is dedicated to the development of software for the agri-food sector and whose innovation allows it to improve the result of a livestock farm “by up to 40%”, its manager Álvaro Fernández explains to EFE.
In this congress -organized by the GSMA, the world association of telecommunications companies and which concludes this Thursday- Boalvet has presented its PAM (Precision Animal Milking) tool, which allows to improve the detection of diseases from the data obtained in the milk analysis.
This system issues a series of alerts to the farmer in case of detecting an infection and also shows therapeutic alternatives with medicinal plants, an advance that allows reducing the use of antibiotics in line with the guidelines of the European Commission, he says.
Its growth is exponential: “in the last two weeks, we have signed contracts with 250 farms”, quite an advance considering that they went on the market in mid-December, after a pilot project to which 30 farms signed up.
Sport experiences
Sport is present in this pavilion and companies such as Telecoming show their technology specialized in developing and distributing mobile experiences for sports and entertainment.
Its portfolio, which covers more than a dozen different sports disciplines, includes the official licenses of the main football clubs in Europe and Africa, including Real Madrid. In fact, its headquarters are in front of the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, reports its CEO, Cyrille Thivat.
The company, with more than one hundred employees of 19 nationalities, also develops monetization technologies for digital services in collaboration with fifty telecommunications operators.
Cybersecurity, also present
One more year cybersecurity is present in the Spanish Pavilion by several companies, including the Basque Redborder, which shows a system based on the analysis of network traffic, which allows threats and intrusions to be detected, says Borja Iglesias, business development manager of this company.
What it does is monitor the network, apply security policies, alarms and filters to obtain maximum protection and control in real time.
This company is part of a strategic alliance with Innovalia, which brings together 8 companies, three of which are in this pavilion.
More than twenty companies repeat
In the Spanish Pavilion, these 38 companies, 23 of which repeat, share a space of more than 800 square meters, where meetings between professionals in the sector have been held over these days and meetings of government authorities and leaders of the industry.
These companies are an example of the Spanish ecosystem, “dynamic, modern and oriented towards innovation and internationalization”, say sources from Red.es, a public entity under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation.
