Toledo (EFE).- The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has said about the ‘Mediator’ case that a deputy “of that stature”, whether from the PSOE or the PP, has to be outside the politics “and if he was already in jail, better,” he added.
Speaking to journalists during the II Economic Forum organized by El Español-El Digital de Castilla-La Mancha, in which the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, also participated, the Castilian-Manchegan president defended his Canarian counterpart and recognized that he was annoyed that they tried to “muck him up”.
In this regard, he has indicated that he knows the president of the Canary Islands “very well”, has said that he is a “very decent, very thorough, very serious” person and has added that he finds it “contemptible” that he wants to contaminate and infect others.
García-Page asks that slanderers not only pay fines
“It would be necessary to think, in Spain, that those who are slanderers not only pay fines, because then anyone who has a lot of money can insult all day, but ends up worse,” said García-Page.
In any case, he has indicated that “the most important thing” is “that we do not play along with him” and has stressed: “if he were already in jail, better.”
He has also recognized that “there will be interest in removing rubbish and in trying to appear that we are all equal” and has pointed out that a deputy “of that stature” must be “out of politics and, if possible, in jail. And he does not matter to me if he is from the PP or the PSOE ”.
Bolaños highlights that the PSOE acted “within hours”
For his part, Félix Bolaños stressed that the PSOE acted “within hours” after learning of the “disgusting behavior” that describes the alleged corrupt plot of the Mediator case and has wished that in other parties “this was always the norm.”
During his speech in said forum, Bolaños rejected the alleged corrupt plot of the Mediator case and added that he was repelled by it, although he claimed that the PSOE “in a few hours has thrown out those who have carried out such behavior so unworthy” which, he stressed, do not represent socialist values.
On the other hand, he has wished that in other parties “this was always the norm” in reference to the PP.
Thus, he cited the case of the mayoress of Marbella and PP senator, María Ángeles Muñoz, who has had an asset enrichment of 12 million euros in recent years or the former Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz, for whom the Prosecutor’s Office requests 15 years in prison for his alleged involvement in the Kitchen plot.
“I would like the PP, in that need and obligation that citizens ask us to be exemplary, to act in these cases,” said Bolaños, who has considered that the PP “cannot give lessons” to the PSOE.
Mediator case, alleged extortion network against companies
In the ‘Mediator’ case, an alleged extortion network against companies is being investigated and in addition to former PSOE deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo, “Tito Berni”, his nephew, Taishet Fuentes, former director of Livestock for the Canarian Government, is being investigated.
Fuentes Curbelo resigned from his seat on February 15 after the PSOE of the Canary Islands opened a disciplinary file on him and suspended him from militancy in a precautionary manner along with his nephew.
At least twelve people have been arrested for allegedly participating in an organization that was in charge of extortion.
