Toledo (EFE).- The PSOE of Castilla-La Mancha has presented this Monday the pre-campaign for the regional elections on May 28 with the slogan “Castilla-La Mancha, in good hands” and has highlighted that there are two alternatives government in the autonomous community after those elections: either Emiliano García-Page repeats as president or “a coalition of inexperienced and radicals” governs, as he has defined PP and Vox.
In a press conference, the deputy general secretary of the party in the autonomous community and spokesperson for the Castilian-Lamancha socialists, Cristina Maestre, and the regional PSOE Organization Secretary, Sergio Gutiérrez, presented the pre-campaign with a markedly regional character.
In addition, the pre-campaign includes the “vital signs” of what will be the electoral campaign of the regional president and candidate for re-election, and which is based on the “confrontation of the projects” and not “on the tension.”
The PSOE seeks to expose the projects and capacities of the candidates
Thus, Gutiérrez has stressed that the pre-campaign will focus on exposing “the values that define each political project” that competes in the regional elections and on the “capacities of its candidates.”
In this sense, he has stressed that the regional president will be able to appear at the polls with 80 percent of the electoral program fulfilled -despite the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine-.
Likewise, he stressed that the regional PSOE project goes through emphasizing that the regional president knows how to “better manage the economy, because he knows how to protect people.”
For example, he pointed out that since García-Page presided over the region, there are 150,000 more workers, the unemployment rate has dropped, especially among women and young people, and there are 16,000 more companies.
“The less you cut, the more you grow”, has maintained the Secretary of Organization of the Castilian-Manchego socialists, who has stressed that “the great protagonist of the pre-campaign” is the regional president, “his closeness and his management capacity”, so that voters “approach the elections without deceit, without cheating.”
Castilla-La Mancha, in the center of the pre-campaign
Secondly, the pre-campaign will also seek to “put Castilla-La Mancha at the center and connect it with the social majority”, since it has ensured that “the majority of citizens know that today Castilla-La Mancha is better managed with Page than with the PP of Núñez” and that the PSOE “can address the majority of citizens from transversality and moderation”.
“There is not a single economic, social or institutional data that is worse than when Page came to government”, assured Gutiérrez, who has asserted that despite the fact that this Legislature has experienced an “infinitely worse crisis” than the previous ones, the regional government “has known how to preserve and make progress” Castilla-La Mancha.
At this point, he has denounced that the PP “had to go to a notary to be minimally credible in his health proposal” and, on the contrary, he has claimed the “credibility” of the regional president and has even affirmed that there will be supporters of the PP who in the autonomous elections vote for the candidacy headed by García-Page.
Instead, he has considered that the PP’s strategy will be based on “people forgetting” that his candidate is the president of the ‘popular’ in the region, Paco Núñez, whom he has defined as “flu in moderation, excessive of radicalism” and without proposals.
He attributes the visit of national leaders of the PP to the “lack of moderation” of Núñez
“Since Paco Núñez is president of the PP, we have been in the hoax, the occurrence and the lack of rigor”, summarized Gutiérrez, who has opined that the continuous visits of national ‘popular’ leaders to Castilla-La Mancha are due to to that they have to “make up for their lack of moderation”.
For all these reasons, he has assured that in Castilla-La Mancha two government alternatives are being considered after May 28, either a PSOE government or a “coalition of inexperienced and radicals” and has assured that the objective of the socialists is “to avoid that Castilla-La Mancha is a new Castilla y León”.
“The only possibility that Núñez has of being president is that the PP weakens, Vox is stronger and Castilla-La Mancha loses out.”
Ask for a clean campaign without insults or hoaxes
In any case, Gutiérrez has called for “a clean campaign, without insults, without hoaxes and that does not take citizens for fools”, since he has stressed that these elections are regional.
Regarding the presence of national leaders from his party, he stated that they have all been invited and that all “will be welcome to carry out a regional campaign.”
Maestre highlights the work to “leave no one on the way”
For his part, Maestre has assessed that despite the fact that it has been “the most complicated legislature in history”, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, of the PSOE, has worked to “leave no one behind” and for this reason , in the pre-campaign they will count “the work done”.
Thus, he has revealed that they are facing the pre-campaign and the campaign “with enthusiasm”, since he has assured that the Socialists have “a lot to tell”, while he has assessed that the regional president, despite having governed with an absolute majority, ” He has not climbed to any pedestal, but has worked “with the greatest nobility and the greatest humility” to “seek the greatest agreements in Castilla-La Mancha hand in hand with social representatives.”
