Pamplona (EFE).- The cold has returned to Navarra and it has been accompanied by snow. Navarra is one of the thirteen autonomous communities that this Monday is on alert for low temperatures.
Roncesvalles with a temperature of 7.6 degrees below zero this morning registered the lowest minimum temperature of this day in the Foral Community.
Isaba with 6.6 degrees below zero is in second place, according to provisional data provided by the State Meteorological Agency. They are followed by 3.9 degrees below zero in Oroz-Betelu and Navascués and 3.7 degrees in Esteribar, Eugui reservoir.
The State Meteorological Agency, which has activated the alert for low temperatures, announces widespread frost for this Monday that can reach -4 degrees in the center of the Community and -8 in the Pyrenees.
Snow affects traffic
The accumulated snow has forced the closure of the Leitzaran Highway (A-15) at kilometer 112, at the height of Irurtzun, for heavy traffic heading north.
As reported by the Government of Navarra, from 10:00 a.m. and due to the worsening of the state of the road, detours have been set up for trucks along the A-10 and A-1.
These are consequences of the snow that has fallen in the last few hours in different parts of the Foral Community, which also makes it necessary to drive with chains on various roads of the secondary network, although on all roads it is recommended to drive with caution given the possibility of widespread frosts.
Chains on secondary roads
On the secondary network, in addition to the two highways that remain closed to traffic at this time, this Monday the port of Belagua, on the NA-137-Burgui-Isaba-Francia, from kilometer 47, Venta de Juan Pito. On this same road, from kilometer 33.5 and up to the cut, chains are necessary.
The snow that fell this Monday has caused problems, especially in the Tierra Estella area, where chains are necessary to travel through the NA-7300 Meano-Álava; the NA-7200 Sansol-Cabredo between the kilometres; the NA-122 Estella-Lizarra-Carcar from kilometer 5; the NA-120 Estella-Lizarra-Beasain between kilometers 15 and 35.
On the NA-1110 Galar-Viana, chains for light vehicles are necessary and the road has been cut to heavy vehicles from kilometer 42.
In the early hours of the morning it has also snowed in Pamplona, where all the roads are open. The Municipal Police recommends a lot of caution and avoiding the use of a private vehicle.
For this day, the State Meteorological Agency announces widespread frost that can reach -4 degrees in the center of the Community and -8 in the Pyrenees, as well as weak rainfall in the northern half, more likely in mountain areas, which They will be snow at any level and they will subside in the afternoon.
