Seville, (EFE).- The Comprehensive Care and Reception Service for women victims of gender violence and their dependents from the Andalusian Women’s Institute (IAM) provided assistance in Andalusia to 2,438 victims of abuse (1,392 women and 1,046 minors) in 2022, almost 4% more than the previous year.
These figures indicate that last year an average of seven people per day entered emergency centers, shelters and sheltered apartments, the regional administration reported in a statement.
This service responds to a coordinated system of resources, whose purpose is to offer the necessary protection and support to women and their sons and daughters who suffer gender violence for their personal recovery, through a comprehensive program that includes: psychological care , social, socio-educational and legal.
The reception network for victims of gender violence of the Andalusian Government is made up of 35 centers after its expansion.
The Minister of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Loles López, who this week visited one of the reception centers in the province of Malaga, highlighted the importance of these resources “for the protection and physical, emotional and psychological treatment of women and minors who are victims of gender violence who have to leave their homes because their lives are in danger”.
Since their creation, these centers have attended more than 60,000 victims in Andalusia.
