Algeciras (Cádiz) (EFE) Pérez, the sacristan of the temple who was assassinated on January 25 in the jihadist attacks committed in two churches in the city.
In a statement, the mayor has called for the participation of citizens “in an act in which we will once again be at the side of Diego’s family, showing our affection and our absolute rejection of these events, which still keeps shocked.”
“One month has passed since that barbarism and I am sure that the people of Algeciras will continue to give the image of unity that despite the pain that invaded us, we gave when some attacks were committed that we will never tire of condemning,” he concluded.
The Moroccan Yassin Kanjaa, accused of the jihadist attack perpetrated on January 25 in two churches in Algeciras (Cádiz), underwent a psychiatric examination yesterday before the forensics of the National Court.
The judge believes that the evidence collected so far supports that the action can be classified “as a jihadist attack directed both against priests who profess the faith of the Catholic Church and against Muslims who, according to the investigator, do not follow the precepts of the Koran.”
At the moment, everything seems to indicate that Kanjaa would have acted alone and without the help of third parties, as he himself acknowledged in his statement, and the magistrate believes that, at this initial moment of the investigation, it can be affirmed that the person under investigation would identify himself with “a profile of a self-indoctrinated terrorist who acts individually and is not directly linked to a terrorist organization”.
