Los Angeles (USA) (EFE).- Rihanna will perform at the next Oscar ceremony, where she will perform “Lift Me Up”, from the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, nominated for best song in this edition, The Hollywood Academy reported in a statement.
It is a composition whose sound design involved, in addition to Rihanna, the Nigerian singer Tems and the Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson. The lyrics are the work of American director Ryan Coogler and Tems herself.
This song competes for the Oscar with “Hold My Hand” (“Top Gun: Maverick”), “Naatu Naatu” (“RRR”), “This Is Life” (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and “Applause” ( “Tell It Like a Woman”).
In the coming days, the Hollywood Academy will announce other performances planned in this new delivery of the most renowned awards in the film industry.
Winner of nine Grammy Awards and with eight multi-platinum albums to her credit, Rihanna returned to the stage a few days ago with her star appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show.
Her performance at this sporting event, which had an average of 103.8 million viewers in the US alone, marked the return of the artist after six years without offering live shows. In it, the singer also revealed her new pregnancy.
The Hollywood Academy wants the 95th edition of the Oscars to be as attractive as possible to make people forget the controversial slap that Will Smith gave comedian Chris Rock for joking about his wife’s alopecia during last year’s ceremony.
