Madrid (EFE) , because for one it would be the definitive recovery from his problems and for the other the confirmation of his “change of scenery” from Suzuki to Repsol Honda.
Marc Márquez, who will face his sixteenth season in the world championship, has no other goal than to become MotoGP world champion again, in what would be his seventh world title in the category.
“It has been a normal winter after 4 or 5 winters in which I was injured and it has been good for me to rest and to train. In Malaysia I felt very good but there is room for improvement because I like to be a perfectionist and we have to get to Portimao as well as possible”, highlighted Marc Márquez.
“The sensations in preseason are always exciting; we have to be optimistic because we are HRC and we all have to row in the same direction and, in my case, after three years that have been the worst of my sporting career and in which Honda has not done well either, we must continue advancing in team but I am convinced that if we join forces we can do something interesting”, he said about the Sepang training sessions.
“Joan (Mir) can contribute what HRC expects: win races, as you are obliged to do so and even though he comes from another brand both in Valencia and in Sepang his comments were very similar to mine and that makes Honda’s job easier and hopefully we can fight many races together to be as high up as possible”, highlighted Márquez about his new teammate.
“The competition is a test bench and bio-fuel seems to be one of the fuels of the future and at Jarama I didn’t notice too much of a difference, it was noticeable very little and we know that they are already working in Japan on the test bench to improve the performance of the current one as soon as possible”, explained Márquez about renewable fuels.
For his part, Joan Mir acknowledged: “For me it is an honor and I am super nervous because I have imagined myself wearing these colors many times. I really want to start”.
“I think they are coming off some difficult seasons and it is clear that we are trying to get the best package to start this season. It is not easy because I have to adapt to this engine that is different and to a bike that is different from what I have ridden up to now. And having to adapt and try pieces at the same time is not easy. But I think we have come close to a pretty good level and we will have to continue working in Portimao”, explained the 2020 MotoGP world champion with Suzuki.
“A change always gives freshness to the team. Being a teammate with Marc (Márquez) measures you because you compare yourself with the best and we will make ourselves give more. The feedback has been similar and the direction we are taking is the same, which makes things easier in Japan,” Mir said.
I haven’t had the luck to try it. Yes, it is true that it catches my attention because being able to try something that makes everything a little cleaner and being able to maintain what we like the most, which is riding a motorcycle and burning gasoline, looks good”, added the Repsol Honda rider .
