Oviedo, Feb 22 (EFE).- Asturias registered ten forest fires early this Wednesday, all of them pending review throughout this morning to determine their situation, the Emergency Service of the Principality of Asturias (SEPA) has reported. .
The outbreaks are located in Vega de Cien, in the council of Amieva; Asiego, in Cabrales; Labra, in Cangas de Onís; La Foz and Veneros, in Case; Sirviella, in Onís; Prias, in Parres; Monte, in Piloña; Ambingue, in Ponga, and Villamorey, in Sobrescobio.
Late yesterday afternoon, Asturias registered six active forest fires and three controlled ones, to which must be added another four outbreaks that remained under surveillance, mainly because they were located in high and inaccessible areas and with no possibility of spreading.
Asturias activated the Forest Fire Plan (INFOPA) on Wednesday of last week in emergency phase in situation 0 due to the weather forecast and the possibility that the number of fires could increase.
After several days without rain, Asturias yesterday recorded some light rainfall that left maximum accumulations of ten liters per square meter in some parts of the community.
However, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) foresees that the precipitations and showers will be more widespread today, more intense during the second half of the day, without ruling out that they could be strong and persistent, which could help to extinguish the fires. .
