Seville, (EFE).- Andalusia will host the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards ceremony in November, a gala for which Seville is “well placed”, as announced today by the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, while the mayor, Antonio Muñoz, has said that the city is a “very serious candidate”.
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, met this Wednesday with the executive director of the Latin Recording Academy -organizer of the Latin Grammys-, Manuel Abud, and announced that the ceremony will be held in Andalusia and that Seville is “well placed”.
The mayor of Seville, Antonio Muñoz, had posted a message on his Twitter account before the meeting ended, stating that “after two editions of the Goya Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards, the great Dior parade… We have shown that Seville is prepared to host major international events”, although in subsequent statements to journalists he has qualified that “it is not closed” that the gala is in the Andalusian capital.
requirements to spare
In Moreno’s meeting with Abud, a sponsorship agreement was finalized for three years by the Junta de Andalucía so that this event is held for the first time in its history outside the United States, although this, Abud has qualified, “does not means that it will always be celebrated” in Andalusia.
Moreno has endorsed the celebration of the gala in Seville but it will depend “on the facilities provided by the different cities.”
He recalled that the decision has to be made by the Academy, he insisted that the Andalusian capital “meets more than enough requirements because it has a very close link with the entire Latin world” and also “is very used to organizing large events since the Universal Exhibition ”.
Manuel Abud has indicated that the Latin Recording Academy “is honored” to have reached this agreement and that they are “very excited” that Andalusia will host this awards ceremony that will attract “12,000 people related to the music industry”, as Juanma Moreno has abounded.
The executive director of the Academy has indicated that they seek “the establishment of bridges between cultures” as the main reason that they have transferred this awards ceremony to Spain.
The Andalusian president has estimated the economic impact that the celebration of this event in Andalusia will have at 300 million and that he has considered “historic” and that they have begun “an exciting path” to celebrate “something unique and singular” that will not be limited to the awards ceremony, but will be complemented by other events related to Latin music.
Seville, a “very serious” candidacy
For his part, in statements to journalists, the mayor of Seville has said that it is not yet closed for the city to host the Latin Grammys ceremony, although due to the contacts he has had, he is “a very serious candidate.”
“Seville has been competing in recent years by attracting events that were only intended for Madrid, Rome or London and we have shown organizational capacity”, according to the mayor, who added that “three-way” negotiations are taking place with the Board, the City Council and The academy.
He has revealed that yesterday, Tuesday, he was with representatives of the Grammy Academy and that they see “with good eyes” that the Palace of Congresses in Seville is the scene of the ceremony and that other events related to these awards could be held in other Andalusian cities. . EFE
