Guadalajara (EFE).- The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has deactivated at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday the Territorial Emergency Plan (Platecam), activated at noon due to a leak after the rupture of the Guadalajara-Madrid general gas pipeline in the Guadalajara municipality of Cabanillas del Campo.
The pipe rupture occurred at 11:06 a.m., at the work of some workers who were dismantling a company in the Cabanillas del Campo industrial estate, near Francisco Medina y Mendoza street.
The leak has advised confining all the workers of the surrounding companies, while road traffic has been prohibited in the surroundings of the place of the event, in a radius of 800 meters, and rail circulation has been suspended on the track that was found in the immediate vicinity.
At 12:00 p.m. the Platecam was activated throughout the province of Guadalajara, although the emergency plan was deactivated at 2:30 p.m. and the end of the alert was declared, once it was determined that there was no type of alert. risk to the population.
Rail traffic has been restored at 4:00 p.m.
Ten minutes earlier, at 2:20 p.m., the confinement of the workers of the companies located in the area affected by the gas leak that it has caused has been lifted and, also around 4:00 p.m., rail traffic has been restored.
However, the plot where the breakage occurred has remained perimeter, for security reasons.
At the scene of the events, Natural Gas technicians have worked, together with firefighters from the Azuqueca de Henares park, the Civil Guard, members of the Local Police, ADIF technicians and health media, in preventive, since up to now there are no data that has been affected.
The Es-Alert protocol is activated for the first time
As a result of the incident, the Es-Alert protocol for sending alerts to the population in areas affected by emergencies or imminent catastrophes, deployed in June 2022, has been activated for the first time in Spain in a real emergency, which in the months past, it was made known in drills in all the autonomous communities.
To make this first notice in a real emergency, a message has been sent to the population of Cabanillas del Campo and surroundings warning of the emergency and with advice and instructions for self-protection for citizens, 112 has indicated.
In this sense, Sonia Palazón, from the Kristalerías Sonia company, located opposite the Heliocolor company facilities, whose dismantling has caused the breakage, has told EFE how she has experienced this notice firsthand.
A red message with an alert symbol has appeared on the mobile
“Around half past twelve in the morning I heard a beep and when I looked at the mobile a pop-up message appeared on the red screen with an alert symbol indicating that due to a gas leak the area was confined until further notice. ”, Palazón explained.
Likewise, it has indicated that before the arrival of the alert message, agents of the Civil Guard have toured the companies in the area on foot, to warn them about the possibility of a strong smell of gas reaching them due to the leak and to tell them In that case, call the emergency room.
“The reality is that here we have not smelled gas at any time, although it is true that this area where it has occurred is an open space,” commented Palazón, who has also indicated that he is aware that the alert has also reached some residents of Cabanillas del Campo, who have the City Council’s mobile application.
The gas leak has not caused material or personal damage
In turn, sources from the City Council have confirmed to EFE that there has been no material or personal damage, and have specified that the company in charge of the dismantling works of the Heliocolor company has the corresponding building permit.
The alert system that this Tuesday has been put into operation for the first time in Spain has ES-Alert technology, which is integrated into the National Alert Network, and which allows Civil Protection authorities to send generalized alert messages and immediately to mobile phones located in an area affected by an emergency or catastrophe.
