Madrid (EFE).- The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced the creation this year of 4,000 professional training places linked to renewable energies, a decision that has been framed within Spain’s aspiration to lead this sector without there are “losers” in the green transition.
Sánchez made this announcement in his speech at the opening of the Spirec 2023 International Conference on Renewable Energies that is held in Madrid with the presence of experts and political leaders such as the EU Energy Commissioner, Kadri Simson, or the third vice president and minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera.
The motto of the meeting, “Renewables for the people”, has been considered a success by the Chief Executive since he has stressed that it is the people who must be at the center of the decarbonization process and doing so is “a moral imperative”.
For this reason, he has emphasized that this transition must be fair and it must be ensured that no one is left behind and that all people and all territories benefit.
“Let there be no losers in this great transformation,” he insisted.
2,500 million euros to promote employment
In this context, the President of the Government recalled that the Council of Ministers will approve this Tuesday “the largest batch of scholarships in the history” of Spain with 2,520 million euros to promote the employment of young people also in new sectors of the economy such as the green transition.
He has also defended the creation of 20,000 places linked to these energies in vocational training, at which time he has reported that 4,000 of them will be created this year.
Sánchez has vindicated his Government’s management in terms of clean energy in the face of “erroneous” measures of the past such as the so-called sun tax, the retroactive review of renewable energy premiums or the obstacles that were placed in their deployment.
“Today our voice counts. We are respected ”, she assured before highlighting the recognition of the work of Vice President Ribera.
quality jobs
Sánchez has insisted on the need for the energy transition to generate quality jobs and recalled that the forecast is that 468,000 new jobs will be created in this area in the next decade.
For the head of the Executive, the figures show “the social defeat of the deniers”, but he believes that the “merchants of doubt” remain, who do not deny the overwhelming evidence of science but play to slow down the degree of climate ambition that the world needs”.
In front of them, he has guaranteed that Spain is determined to “advance with more determination than ever” and has explained that this will be one of the priorities of the Spanish presidency of the European Union in the second half of this year.
In a European key, he has also highlighted the effects of the so-called Iberian solution which, according to his figures, has so far allowed savings of 5,000 million euros and an estimate of 600 million more each month until the end of the year.
The promotion of green hydrogen and offshore wind energy, as well as the storage strategy and the commitment to electric vehicles are other aspects in which the Government has said that it intends to focus.
