Santiago de Compostela (EFE).- The member of the PSOE Executive, Minister of Territorial Policy and Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, has censured this Sunday the “absence” of the PP project and its leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, whose “contribution” to national policy has been to “normalize corruption.”
“The contribution of Núñez Feijóo to Spanish politics has been so null that they tell us more about the fact that (Pablo) Casado was fired than about the arrival of Núñez Feijóo,” said Rodríguez during the inauguration of a municipal conference of his party in A Coruña , when referring to the time elapsed since the crisis that raised the Galician politician to the leadership of the party.
“It was Núñez Feijóo who starred, who led that PP mutiny to cover up corruption and now he sits peacefully in the office on the seventh floor in Genoa, which I remind you, is paid with black money from that same corruption that they wanted to cover up at the time. That is the contribution that Feijóo has made to national politics: to normalize corruption”, assured the socialist leader.
These criticisms of Rodríguez allude to the crisis in the PP that a year ago ended the leadership of Pablo Casado, “who at least dared to speak of regeneration”, he stated about the former leader, after having publicly questioned the contracts of the Community of Madrid governed by Isabel Díaz Ayuso with a company of her brother during the pandemic.
According to the government spokeswoman, “the right has no alternative” for Spain and that is why it does not show it, because they know that their “most viable” opportunity to govern is to “shake hands with the extreme right” and what they offer the country is “go back”, when there are more Spaniards who want “progress” and “advance”.
After citing important “improvements” and “advances” for citizens, such as the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage or the announcement of 2,500 million for scholarships, Rodríguez has once again charged against Núñez Feijóo’s position on abortion.
“The PP does not even accept what is law,” said the government spokesperson, who has insisted that abortion is a right because it is ratified by a law, because the Constitutional Court says so, because it is within the framework of international law and “because Spanish women are not going to allow a single step back” in this matter.
About to celebrate four years since the 2019 municipal elections, the socialist leader has defended that the socialists “have fulfilled” where they have governed and “are capable of looking their neighbors in the eye in the streets”, that is why for the elections next May “the objective” is to maintain and expand the majorities where they govern and where they do not “get their approaches to be recognized by the citizens.”
Because according to Rodríguez, when the “triple alliance” occurs, with socialist governments in the municipalities, in the autonomies and in La Moncloa, is when “advances in favor of the social majority” take place.
During her speech, preceded by the PSdeG leader, Valentín González Formoso, and by the mayoress of A Coruña, Inés Rey, the government spokesperson highlighted Pedro Sánchez’s “leadership” during the pandemic, with the “social shield” favor of the majority and additional resources for the autonomies.
On the other hand, many regional presidents – alluding to those of the PP – “leave a lot to be desired” both in the management of the funds that the Government has transferred to them and in their own basic competencies, mainly health, in which they have dedicated themselves to “cut back”, has criticized Rodríguez, who has censored the health management of Núñez Feijóo during his time in the Xunta (2009-2022).
