Las Palmas De Gran Canaria (EFE).- The PP candidate for mayoress of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Jimena Delgado, stated this Saturday that if she wins the elections she wants to continue with “the good legacies” left by the governments of her party in the city, which transformed it after finding it “plunged into abandonment” after socialist governments, as is the case now.
Supported by the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijó, and by the leaders and candidates of his party, as well as by some 800 followers, Delgado has presented his city project and has highlighted that the great changes in the capital of Gran Canaria began with the mayor José Manuel Soria, as was the case with the ring road work that other PP governments continued.
Thus, he has vindicated the “impeccable model of city and prosperity” of the PP and Soria, who has also been praised by Feijóo and by the president of the PP in the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, and has stressed that in the May 28 elections the citizens will choose between “continuing to have more of the same until 2027 or that the city finally changes”.
According to Delgado, in May it was decided “between maintaining the same left-wing bloc that has sunk the quality of our basic public services but now with another headliner or the change to leadership, good management and good work that the PP represents. ”.
“We choose between waste, the waste of public money and mortgaging our children or the accounts in order, the payment of invoices and the guarantee of the future of the PP”, has remarked the popular candidate, who has also said that the choice is between “maintaining the Pedro Sánchez branch in our capital is open, or the change towards freedom, prosperity, and good governance in management” that identifies his party.
Delgado proposes a “clean, safe, orderly green” city that “really helps those who are having the worst time” and that offers a future of possibilities, and for this, he has said that he will put “the town hall in order from the inside”. so that the city notices it from the outside”, because, according to the PP candidate, in “these eight years the PSOE and its allies have destroyed it”.
After touring the neighborhoods of the city and talking to the neighbors, without “the need to hide” and “without an escort” as happens to another candidate who is “booed and insulted”, alluding to the PSOE candidate, Carolina Darias , Delgado has stated that he has been able to find out, among other problems, those that have arisen in coexistence and security “derived from the terrible immigration management”, and the abandonment of the centers for the elderly in the neighborhoods, among other problems.
In his speech, he announced that the first thing he will do is order the accounts and pay the 117 million that the City Council owes to the self-employed and SMEs, execute the budget 100% and innovate in the way of budgeting to achieve the objectives, in addition to spending the 330 million euros that are “idle” in the banks and that the prior appointment works.
He has stressed that he proposes a radical change in municipal politics with the redistribution of districts and with councilors with offices in the neighborhoods who act as “mayors or mayors”, with powers and budget to act.”
Likewise, he has indicated that his first challenge will be to get “clean and safe” streets, for which he will undertake a crash plan, and in his first year in office he will recover the neighborhood police, and there will be more material resources for firefighters, local police, mobility agents and civil protection.
The recovery of the parks and gardens will be another of its primary actions, with a great project, to create the Guiniguada park, connected to the Jardín Canario and the coast, and which will serve to unite Vegueta and Triana, as well as the cliffs with the city, so that it becomes the Retiro or the Central Park of the capital.
Another of its main objectives is to undertake the large infrastructures that the city needs so that traffic is no longer clogged, and for this it has indicated that the Metroguagua project will be completed.
Delgado has also announced that as soon as the fundamental commitments are fulfilled so that the social needs of the city are covered, the IBI will be lowered and all taxes that affect economic activity will be eliminated, since it has influenced the fact that economic development is essential to generate employment and the city to prosper.
The PP candidate began her speech to the sound of the music of “Symple the best”, by the Black Eyed Peas, chosen by her and which she has assured that it will play again on election night, as she is convinced that they will win, just like the leaders of his party. EFE
