Pamplona (EFE).- The UGT list, headed by the current president of the Volkswagen Navarra company committee, Alfredo Morales, has won the union elections held this Thursday at the Landaben factory. He has won 13 of the 31 delegates, one more than he currently had.
In the results, UGT is followed by CCOO, which maintains its 8 delegates. In third place, with the greatest increase, is ELA, which achieves two more representatives and reaches 5. For its part, LAB, which maintains 3, and CGT continues with 2 representatives. In the current works council there was a CCP delegate, who does not have representation as of now.
The normality and the high participation of workers have characterized the election day in which the company committee of the automobile plant has been renewed for the next four years. More than 5,000 workers were summoned to these elections.
On this occasion, a committee made up of 31 delegates has been chosen, 2 more than in 2019, due to the increase in the workforce. In 2019, UGT was the union with the most votes with 12 delegates, followed by CCOO with 8, ELA with 3, the same as LAB, by 2 from CGT and 1 from CCP.
CCOO appreciates the increase in votes
After knowing the results, CCOO de Navarra has assessed that it has garnered the greatest support among the Volkswagen Navarra staff in its history, although its representation will be the same as it was four years ago, with 8 delegates. The union has remained a handful of votes away from increasing its presence in both the College of Technicians and the College of Specialists, as reported in a note.
For the union section of the CCOO in Volkswagen, the assessment of the results is “very positive, since the increase in votes in both associations is significant. It is a pity that this increase is not reflected in a greater representation, but we consolidate the 8 delegates from the previous elections”.
After the recount, Carlos Zalduendo declared that “this union section has a marked path to continue working with the affiliation and the rest of the staff. CCOO enjoys support that increases election after election. In addition, we will have a key role when it comes to agreeing and implementing all those measures that affect the future of the plant, its workforce and suppliers. This is the way to follow”.
ELA: The results consolidate us as an alternative
For its part, the ELA union has celebrated the 5 representatives it has achieved, which “consolidates it as an alternative to the UGT and CCOO”.
The 635 votes of ELA, 140 more than in the union elections of four years ago, have been celebrated by the union in a communiqué in which it highlights its increase in representation in two more members in the Committee, one in the workshop and the other by First time at technical college.
These results are, in his opinion, a sign of the “good work” done by the union section in recent years. In this sense, he points out that “it is the first option for the part of the workforce that wants to distance itself from the UGT and CCOO, showing itself as a real alternative to these two unions, as has been happening in recent years in the Industry sector.
