Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca) (EFE).- The Civil Guard continues to search for a man who fled last night, after holding his girlfriend and her family at gunpoint in a house in Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca). .
As sources of the investigation have explained to Efe, the search began in the early hours of this Friday morning, shortly after the man, a native of the Salamanca municipality of El Tenebrón and a resident of Ciudad Rodrigo, entered, around 11 p.m. last Thursday, at his girlfriend’s house armed with a shotgun and kept her with her parents.
The bride’s father snatched the shotgun from the assailant, who fled when he was left unarmed
The same sources have indicated that at a certain moment, the father of the bride managed to snatch the shotgun, which caused the alleged attacker to flee the house and for the moment he remains unlocated.
The girlfriend and family are safe, there are no injuries, and the case is going to be investigated as a crime of gender violence, as confirmed to EFE by the Civil Guard.
At this time, the Civil Guard is carrying out an extensive search operation to find the man, who could be around the Águeda river, for which reason a team from the Underwater Unit has traveled to the area.
In addition, the Civil Guard agents have entered his home, where “several hunting weapons” have been located, so, according to these sources, the man would be “totally unarmed.”
At first it was thought that he could have escaped armed, because one of the weapons he supposedly had was missing, but it has already been located, the sources have indicated.
Throughout the day the Citizen Security Unit of the Civil Guard and a helicopter have participated in the search, although in mid-afternoon they withdrew and members of the Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities attended.
