Santander (EFE) and Minister of Sport, Pablo Zuloaga.
And it has done so at the presentation, at a press conference this Friday, of the administrative deadlines for the construction of the sports facility, which will be located in the municipality of Campoo de Yuso, between the towns of La Población and Corconte, and will have a cost of half a million euros.
The regatta field will be “the best in all of Spain”, according to Zuloaga, since it will have eight lanes for the competition, when these spaces normally have six, and it will extend for two kilometres.
Four companies have appeared in the second bidding process that is still open, since the first one was deserted, and the contracting table will meet on February 20, so it is expected to award the work during the spring.
‘Campo Albano’, ready in summer 2023
As of this date, four months of work is expected, so the vice president has trusted that the “Albanian field”, as these facilities are known, will be ready in the summer of 2023.
Specifically, the perimeter of the race course will be established, the marking of the lanes will be developed, which will have color codes to measure the distances.
The construction anticipates, Zuloaga explained, the oscillations of the water level due to droughts, which have been repeated in recent years, for which reason the design has had to be projected further from the shore.
“It is a living structure”, pointed out the vice president, who has assured that with this work “investments do not end” in the reservoir at the head of the Ebro river.
The new facility will be able to “host national and international events” and, as the president of the Cantabrian Rowing Federation, Víctor Canal, has advanced, a national competition will be organized to inaugurate it in summer.
