Lisbon, Feb 17 (EFE).- The Spanish-Portuguese organization Eje Altántico has asked the Government of Pedro Sánchez to expedite the tenders to link Porriño (Galicia) and the Portuguese border with high speed and conclude a connection between Ferrol, Coruña and Lisbon in 2030 .
In a letter addressed to the Spanish Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, the entity, made up of cities in Galicia and northern Portugal, conveyed its concern at the risk that high-speed communication is not achieved between both regions on time.
“The second Porriño-Tui has not been tendered, a situation that worries us since the delay in bidding could jeopardize the objective, which we share with the Portuguese government, of having a high-performance line between Ferrol-Coruna-Lisbon ”, collects the letter, signed by the president and vice president, Lara Méndez and Ricardo Río, respectively.
For this reason, the entity requested information on the tender deadlines for this route and conveyed its desire that it be opened “as soon as possible.”
He also requested information on the Ferrol-Betanzos-Coruña section, which is missing from the line between Ferrol and the Portuguese border, approved twenty years ago and still not completed, as well as the section that would also connect with the European network through Lugo, remember the letter
In a statement, the Atlantic Axis also recalled that there is a risk that it will not be carried out due to lack of funds while “the money is returned to Europe due to lack of management” and criticized that there is an “asymmetry in the treatment given to Galicia and Portugal compared to the treatment given to the Mediterranean”.
