Los Angeles (USA) (EFE).- Rosalía will be awarded Producer of the Year at the Women in Music Awards, which will be presented by the specialized magazine Billboard in Los Angeles on March 1.
“We are delighted to honor Rosalía with this award and to recognize her work behind the scenes of her recording studio to bring her vision to life,” Billboard Editorial Director Hannah Karp said in a press release.
The Women in Music Awards, which have been held since 2007, honor the work of artists, creators, producers and executive women with a rising career and who have brought new ideas to the music industry in recent years.
The Spanish singer was chosen after analyzing her “numerous and innovative hits” capable of “blurring” the line between musical genres and offering “something unexpected”, according to the organization of these awards.
Likewise, from Billboard they highlighted the “phenomenal vocal capacity” of the author of “Motomami” to merge “timeless musical styles from Spain with R&B, hip hop or contemporary Latin American and electronic rhythms.”
Since the release of her album “El Mal Querer (2018), Rosalía has not stopped reaping successes that have elevated her as one of the main Hispanic figures of the new generation and have earned her a large list of honors, in which she already has 12 Latin Grammys and two gramophones in the Anglo-Saxon version of these awards.
“Motomami”, Rosalía’s success
Her latest album, “Motomami”, received a great reception from critics last year, dominated the charts on platforms such as Spotify for weeks and allowed the artist to go on a massive world tour of the United States, Latin America and Europe.
Ivy Queen, Becky G, SZA, Lana del Rey and Doechii are other figures that will also be laureates at the 2023 Women in Music Awards gala, which will feature actress and writer Quinta Brunson as master of ceremonies.
Another of the personalities that will be awarded, and will also perform, will be the German Kim Petras, who just two weeks ago became the first trans artist to win a Grammy.
From Billboard they assured that in this new edition they intend to reflect their “commitment” to increase the “visibility” of non-binary women and music producers.
The Women in Music Awards will be held on March 1 at the YouTube Theater, located in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Hollywood, and tickets are already on sale with prices ranging from $85 to $275.
