Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The PSOE deputy in Congress for Las Palmas Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo has presented his resignation tonight from the seat to the federal leadership of the party, after being investigated in a plot of alleged corruption, they have confirmed to EFE sources of the socialist leadership in the Canary Islands.
This same afternoon, the PSOE of the Canary Islands had opened a disciplinary file and suspended from militancy in a precautionary manner both Fuentes Curbelo and his nephew, Taishet Fuentes, who was general director of Livestock of the Government of the Canary Islands until his dismissal last summer for “loss of trustworthy”.
In this operation, coordinated by an Investigating Court in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, alleged irregularities committed in the management of European subsidies linked to food products are being investigated.
In total, twelve people have been arrested on charges that include bribery and influence peddling, two in the Canary Islands and another ten in the rest of Spain.
Among those arrested is also the retired general of the Civil Guard, Francisco Javier Espinosa Navas, who was head of the Corps Command in the province of Las Palmas ten years ago. EFE
