Valencia (EFE).- The gunshot wound that finally cost the life of a pregnant woman in the Castellón town of Vall d’Uixó occurred during a brawl between members of the same “very large” family ”, according to the Government Delegation in the Valencian Community.
The deceased, 28 years old and Lithuanian nationality, according to the Civil Guard of Castellón, was initially transferred to a local health center and later, in critical condition, transferred to the Clinical Hospital of Valencia, where she underwent a cesarean section to save the baby, who is admitted to the same center and is stable. Shortly after, her mother died.
City Hall sources have informed EFE that the event occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday in the Carbonaire neighborhood, where a discussion and a fight began in the street in which a group of people participated.
Finally, a shot was fired that hit the head of the woman, who was in an advanced state of pregnancy.
On Monday afternoon there was already a first confrontation between groups of gypsy people, which were repeated at night.
Sources of the investigation have explained that, apparently, two shots were fired and that the victim was not the target of them, so it is a matter of finding out if they were fired accidentally or recklessly, perhaps with the intention of intimidating.
In some initial investigations, the agents who investigated the event were informed that the fatal shot came from someone from inside a vehicle, a hypothesis that has been ruled out, as has that of male aggression.
The Civil Guard continues with the investigation, of which for the moment no news has been disclosed and no arrest has yet been made.

Social Services looking for a family for the baby
Social Services will look for close relatives who can take care of the newborn and, if there are none or those that are found are not considered suitable, they will take care of their guardianship.
The normal procedure in these cases is to look for close relatives, and “if there are any, it must be shown that they are suitable for the care of the child and, if not, they will go to social services and a foster family will be found for them.”
From the department of the Generalitat they have indicated that they did not have a file or registration in Social Services for women, so they are unaware of the personal situation in which she was, although they will continue to collaborate with the investigation.
They have explained that the procedure, in which the interest of the minor always prevails, establishes that he will be in the Hospital until he is discharged and, in parallel, a suitable family member will be sought to take care of him.
In case of not finding a suitable person to do it, it will be the Social Services who will take charge of the guardianship of the minor, they have concluded.
