Logroño, (EFE).- The actor Pepe Viyuela will receive the Award for Arts and Culture 2023, from the Government of La Rioja, in recognition of his national prestige, solidarity activism and his close link with this region.
The evaluation committee chaired by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Pedro Uruñuela, has resolved on Tuesday the recognition of this actor, considered one of the great artists from La Rioja in terms of national media projection endorsed by his career in the cinema, television and theatre.
The Government of La Rioja, in a note, has added that it has also wanted to recognize his career in the field of novels and poetry, a social and humanitarian responsibility embodied, among other things, in the activism from the NGO ‘Payasos sin Borders’; and his long demonstrated commitment to La Rioja.
Pepe Viyuela will succeed Rosa Castellot in this distinction, which the Government of La Rioja has awarded since 1998 to prominent personalities of Culture and Art in the region, and which, since 2021, is also celebrated as an act with
own and independent identity, after years linked to the commemorations in June of the Day of La Rioja.
For the evaluation committee that has made the decision, and for the Government of La Rioja itself, as the institution that officiates the
recognition and the presentation of the Award, in the figure of Pepe Viyuela converge a long and very outstanding artistic career of national recognition at all levels,.
Also converging in this artist is a social and humanitarian commitment expressly linked to the little ones, and a love and attachment to his land of origin that he has never hesitated to exhibit anywhere. EFE
