Beijing (EFE).- While the United States claims to have recovered the electronic mechanism and key sensors of the alleged Chinese spy balloon that it shot down on February 4, Beijing has asked Washington to explain the flights that the United States itself makes over other countries, including China.
In a press conference on Tuesday, the Chinese foreign spokesman, Wang Wenbin, has demanded that Washington “a thorough investigation” and that it give “explanations” about the “illegal balloon flights” that the United States allegedly carries out over other countries.
Wang has reiterated that “at least ten American balloons have flown over China and other countries” since May 2022.
“Yesterday we offered this information and from what I see, the United States has not completely denied it. Simply, they should give explanations, ”said the spokesman.
A military spy program
Meanwhile, the United States claims to have recovered the electronic mechanism and key sensors from the alleged Chinese spy balloon it shot down on February 4.
The giant balloon, which Beijing denied was a government device used for surveillance, was neutralized by a US warplane off the coast of South Carolina after it hovered over the country’s skies for a week.
The Government of Washington has accused China of carrying out a military espionage program through balloons sent to 40 nations on five continents, a circumstance that led to the cancellation of a trip to Beijing by the US Secretary of State, Antony. Blinken.
For its part, the Chinese government has assured that the first object shot down was a weather balloon that deviated from its trajectory and has denounced that at least ten American balloons have flown over China in the last year.
Meanwhile, one of the US allies in Asia, Taiwan, said today that every year his country suffers incursions of Chinese balloons into its airspace, but that they are meteorological and do not represent “a threat to security.”
