In the Court of Barcelona, the trial against the alleged MAG rapist, considered a “sexual predator” by the Mossos d’Esquadra, who arrested him days after he attempted his last sexual assault in Barcelona thanks to the trail he left when he used the credit card stolen from one of the victims to access a pornography website.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests 40 and a half years in prison for the defendant, whom he accuses of having raped two young women and having attempted it with three others, between July 5 and September 12, 2021, with the same modus operandi: he followed them at night until he managed to sneak into the portal of his building, he grabbed them tightly by the neck until he left them semi-conscious and sexually assaulted them.
Before the court, the defendant has only acknowledged having committed the two consummated violations that are attributed to young people of 20 and 17 years of age, the first of which he photographed with his mobile phone and stole the credit card that he would later allow the police track him down.
In both cases, the alleged rapist has hidden behind the fact that he committed the sexual assaults after partying with his friends, drinking and taking drugs, so he did not “know very well what he was doing.”
On the contrary, he has used different alibis to deny the other three assaults that he is accused of. In two of them, which occurred on August 28 and September 11, 2021, the defendant did not achieve his purpose of consummating the rape, in one case because the 19-year-old victim managed to flee and in the other because the young woman screamed. so much so that he was afraid of being found out.
In addition to these four sexual assaults -two attempted-, the public prosecutor attributes to the defendant a crime of injury by a 27-year-old woman whom he allegedly approached in his portal on the night of July 9, 2021 and whom he left go after putting my arm around her neck to suffocate her.
The five victims, whom the court has allowed to testify behind closed doors and protected by a screen that prevents their visual confrontation with the defendant, identified their alleged attacker before the Mossos, whom the Catalan police also located at the scene of the facts.
To deny the other assaults with which he is accused, the defendant has used his wife as an alibi: when the third of the attempted sexual assaults occurred, he has argued, he was at home with his wife celebrating their months of marriage.
The confessed rapist, who has only agreed to answer the questions of the Prosecutor’s Office and his defense -not so of the private accusations-, has delivered 10,000 euros to the court to compensate the victims for the only two sexual assaults that he has recognized.
It is about money that, he explained, he has been collecting working in the prison where he has been confined since he was arrested in September 2021.
