Upon arrival, they left their flowers in tribute to Estela Domínguez, who was training in that area near Salamanca, where she was studying, when a trucker “got distracted” or “was dazzled by the sun”, according to the hypotheses currently being considered by the Civil Guard investigation. Estela Domínguez was from Valladolid but studied at the University of Salamanca (USAL) and that is why she trained in the outskirts of the city. Yesterday hundreds of people said goodbye to her in Íscar (Valladolid), where her funeral was officiated.
The athlete was the daughter of Juan Carlos Domínguez, a professional excicist who came to win a stage in the Giro d’Italia. Dominguez finished seventh in January at the Spanish Cyclocross Championship in Vic and was summoned by the Spanish Cycling Federation to participate in the Cyclocross World Cup that same month in Benidorm.
