Valencia (EFE) .
Mazón has also regretted that the President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, “puts his electoral and partisan interests before the pain of the victims who see how their executioners reduce their prison sentences,” reports the PP.
The PPCV leader made these statements after participating in the rally, organized by the PPCV, and which took place at the door of the Government Delegation to show disagreement with the Only Yes is Yes Law.
A concentration has also been held in the city of Alicante next to the headquarters of the government sub-delegation.
55 sentence reductions in C.Valenciana
Mazón explained that “55 reductions in sentences due to the application of this Sánchez Law in the Valencian Community have totally shocked us” and stated that “it cannot be tolerated that the executioners are above the victims without this government doing anything to avoid it”.
He has regretted in the same way that Sánchez is considering now, three months later, a modification of the Law, which will not be retroactive, and that “no political responsibility” has been assumed.
“No criticism and no resignation for this legislative botch that has enormous negative consequences for society,” he asserted.
In this sense, the president of the PPCV has assured that he is surprised by the “silence” of the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, “more concerned with not offending his Consell partners than with siding with those who are having a bad time” .
Mazón: the person in charge is Pedro Sánchez
In Mazón’s opinion, “the only one responsible for this legislative disaster has a name and it is Pedro Sánchez”, as president of the Government and therefore “solely responsible for the agreements that are made in the Council of Ministers and for not making the right decisions when things don’t go well.
The president of the PPCV has also transferred his solidarity to all the victims and has assured that “Minister Montero should have resigned already”, because “no one who defends this Law is worthy of being part of the government of Spain.”
Finally, Mazón reminded Sánchez and Puig that “electoral interests can never be above the interests of thousands of women who continue to suffer today.”
For her part, the general secretary of the PPCV, María José Catalá, has affirmed that this Law “is the worst of Spanish democracy and it must be changed immediately because there are many women who have to see how their predator lowers their sentence.”
“There is no fact for Spanish politics that is as disastrous for feminism and for the defense of women as this Law is,” she added.
Protest in Alicante
In Alicante, several dozen people have joined the demonstration called by the Popular Party against the Only Yes is Yes law, in front of the Government sub-delegation in Plaza de la Montanyeta.
The call was led by the provincial president of the party, Toni Pérez, along with the provincial deputy and member of the PP Electoral Committee, Ana Serna, and the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, who displayed a banner calling for the resignation, ” yes or yes”, by the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero.
Pérez has described the law as a “rule of infamy” and has ensured that, only in Alicante, it has facilitated that “nearly 40 rapists have seen their sentence reduced” and that two of them have taken to the streets.
The mayor of Benidorm has also demanded the resignation of Montero, “due to the effects of the law that has been made without listening to anyone”, as well as for having “insulted all those who saw an error in the articles”, in his opinion .
The mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, has also spoken out against the law, describing it as “bodrio”.
“We demand responsibilities”, he asserted, since in his opinion “those who have consciously made such wrong decisions cannot leave for free, they must pay with resignations.EFE
