Telepizza has taken the opportunity to report that in 2022 34.5 million of its pizzas were consumed throughout Spain, which is more than the combined population of Portugal, Belgium and Sweden, an average of almost 95,000 pizzas a day.

According to their data, weekends and holidays are the times of greatest consumption, especially at night, either to stay at home or to have dinner before going out to a party.

The home delivery company Uber Eats has added that pizza is also the favorite breakfast for more than half of Spaniards to cure a hangover.

Have pizza for breakfast once in a while

On the occasion of international pizza day, Uber Eats has carried out a survey among its users in Spain and the results have shown that eight out of ten people claim to have pizza for breakfast from time to time.

The main reason these users give for choosing this type of dish for breakfast is that they consider it a natural cure for a hangover, according to more than half of those surveyed.

Another home delivery chain, Glovo, has also joined the celebrations of this day and has issued a statement to report that its users in Spain ordered almost 6 million pizzas in 2022, 65% more than in the previous year.

By region, Catalonia leads the ranking with the highest number of pizza orders, followed by the Community of Madrid and, in third place, Andalusia.

In relation to tastes, the Margarita, Diavola and Pepperoni pizzas are the favorites of Glovo users throughout the country.
In addition, the favorite consumption time is on Sundays at dinner time.

On the other hand, the day of the year in which the most pizza was ordered was last November 27.

Other industry firms such as the Hisense appliance brand have also recalled the origin of this day and have published recipes for baking pizza.

While chain pizzerias like Domino’s have announced that they will be giving away pizza in Madrid to celebrate this day.
