Madrid (EFE).- The Government will eliminate this Tuesday the obligation to wear a mask in transport and health establishments such as opticians and orthopedics, although it will be necessary to continue using it in health and social health centers, in pharmacies and in first-aid kits.
The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, will present to the meeting of the Council of Ministers the reform of the royal decree that regulates the use of a mask approved in April 2022, with which Spain will be the last country, after Germany -which did so last week past-, to put an end to its mandatory use on trains, buses, subways, planes and other transport.
With the new norm, it will not be necessary to take it in orthopedics, opticians and audioprosthesis centers, but it will be in pharmacies and first-aid kits, although they are also classified as health establishments like the three previous ones.
For the rest, it will continue to be mandatory in the health centers and services regulated in a royal decree of 2003 that lists up to a hundred, from health centers to hospitals -whether general, specialized, medium or long stay-, tissue banks, semen, medical examination centers, dental clinics, aesthetics or the physiotherapist’s office, among others.
It will also continue to be mandatory in residences and other social and health centers for the people who work in them whenever they are in contact with residents and for visitors when they are in shared areas.
The new regulations on the use of a mask will enter into force when it is published in the BOE, which will foreseeably happen tomorrow.
