Los Angeles (USA) (EFE).- The Venezuelan Gustavo Dudamel will leave the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra to join the New York Philharmonic at the end of his contract in 2026, the director himself reported on Tuesday in a statement released through their social networks.
“Today I am honored to be named the next Music and Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic. (…) I am grateful to my loving Los Angeles Philharmonic family for helping me learn and grow through countless challenges and triumphs,” Dudamel expressed on his Twitter profile.
In 2026, Dudamel will celebrate 17 years at the helm of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, a position he has combined as music director of the Paris Opera.
