Madrid, Feb 6 (EFE) errors in the measurements of narrow-gauge trains in the project, which did not fit in the tunnels.
The president of Renfe has ceased from his current responsibility in Material Management in the Technical and Operations Department to the one who was manager of the Material Management Area of Renfe Viajeros at the time of the gestation of the narrow-gauge train project, reports the company.
CAF’s manufacturing of the new metric gauge fleet for Renfe will suffer a delay of between two and three years, due to an error in the infrastructure gauges in the Adif network statement, based on which They were going to build the trains.
The Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, announced during this weekend “imminent cessations” in Renfe and Adif due to the error in the technical determinations of the new commuter trains destined mainly for Cantabria and Asturias and assured that the new model will be designed in summer, to start manufacturing it immediately.
Transport: The necessary measures will be taken to shorten the delay
Raquel Sánchez affirmed that they are going to take “all the actions that are necessary to be able to shorten the delay that will be suffered in the delivery of those trains”, which, as she clarified, were not yet manufactured.
The error was noticed in the design phase of the new units, which due to their dimensions do not fit in the tunnels.
“We are going to make every effort to shorten manufacturing and production time as much as possible. We are all aware that we all have to make a huge effort to correct this delay that will inevitably occur, “he said.
