León (EFE).- The University Assistance Complex of León (Caule) has set a penalty of 200 euros for the company Serunion, awarded the cafeteria service of the hospital, for serving soup with worm larvae to health personnel in October 2022 .
According to what sources from the center have specified to EFE, the penalty for serving soup with larvae conforms to what is considered a serious breach of the contract specifications.

The hospital management opened an information file in the case of unhealthy food for medical personnel, upon detecting that they had been served soup in which small black worm larvae appeared.
Soup with ‘flour larvae’
After analyzing the larvae, the Junta de Castilla y León concluded that the specimens corresponded to the so-called ‘flour larvae’, a type of beetle that is harmless to human health.
Serunión had already starred in a similar episode in school canteens in October 2014, when weevil larvae were detected in a total of six schools in Castilla y León.
Five of them were located in the province of León and one in that of Segovia.
In that case, the Junta de Castilla y León exonerated Serunión for the appearance of a 10-millimeter nut in the tray from which the rations are later taken in a school canteen in Segovia.
Nor did it consider that there were health risks in an acid puree, which is why it has chosen to close the disciplinary proceedings against this company that, as a precautionary measure, even withdrew the service of 19 school canteens in Segovia.
