Lviv (Ukraine) (EFE).- The Ukrainian authorities reported today that four civilians were killed in the bombardments registered in the last hours in different parts of Donetsk, in the east of the country, three of whom died in the city of Bakhmut .
Russian attacks on this strategic city in Donbas continue, as reported by the head of the regional administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, through his Telegram account.
The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, has been insisting in recent days that Bakhmut will be defended “like a fortress”, while Russian troops intensify the siege of that strategic city.
From kyiv, long-range weapons have been requested from the Western allies to defend Bakhmut.
The attacks on the city of Kharkiv also continue, in the center of which two S-300 missiles hit, as reported by sources from the regional military command.
One of the rockets hit a residential building, according to sources from the mayor’s office, who speak of the existence of at least one wounded, while the rescue work continues to clarify if there are other victims.
The head of the Wagner confirms “bloody combat” in Bakhmut
The head of the Wagner private military company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has acknowledged that the Russian Army is fighting in the north of the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, in the east of the country, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces offer it “stubborn resistance.”
“In the northern neighborhoods of Artiomovsk (Russian name for Bakhmut) bloody fighting takes place on every street, every house, every floor of the buildings,” he reported in his Telegram account.
Prigozhin acknowledged that “the Ukrainian army is not retreating anywhere.” “The Ukrainian Army fights to the end,” he stated.
Wagner’s boss noted that as much as the media wants a withdrawal of Ukrainian forces, “this is not happening in the northern, southern, or eastern neighborhoods.”
Russian forces have intensified in recent weeks their attacks on Bakhmut, an important Ukrainian square whose capture would allow them to continue their advance towards Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, kyiv’s main strongholds in Donbas.
