Logroño, (EFE).- Unemployment has risen by 437 people in the month of January in La Rioja, where there are a total of 14,785 unemployed, as reported on Thursday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.
Unemployment has increased in the La Rioja community by 3 percent compared to December 2022, but it has decreased by 3.52 in relation to January of last year, with 539 fewer unemployed.
In La Rioja there are 2,887 unemployed foreigners (1,126 from the EU and 1,761 from non-EU countries), 134 more than in December, 2.63% more, and 2 less than in January last year, 0.07% less.
Of the 14,785 unemployed, 5,713 are men and 9,072 women, while 925 are under 25 years of age (486 men and 439 women) and the other 13,860 unemployed are over 26 years of age (5,227 men and 8,633 women).
By economic activity, in the community of La Rioja there are 1,226 people without employment in agriculture, 2,475 in industry, 764 in construction, 9,401 in services and 919 in the category of previously unemployed.
In January 2023, unemployment fell by 39 people in agriculture and 42 in industry, but rose by 464 in services, 34 in construction and 20 without previous employment.
Hiring
Last month a total of 7,290 contracts were formalized in La Rioja, which was 144 less than in December (-9.86%) and 900 less than in January last year (-40.61%)
Of the total contracts, 4,394 were temporary (343 less than in December, a 7.24% decrease and 4,733 contracts less than in January 2022, a decrease of 51.86%) and 2,896 permanent (804 more than in December, a 38.43% increase; but 1,481 more contracts than in January 2022, 104% more).
In La Rioja there are 8,907 beneficiaries of benefits (with an average amount of 935 euros): 5,194 of them contributory, 3,428 subsidies and another 285 people receive Active Insertion Income. Of the total recipients, 1,563 are foreigners. EFE
