Oviedo, Feb 2 (EFEAGRO).- Sales of the Asturias Cider Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) have grown by 6 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year, to 4,325,000 back labels.
According to the balance made public this Thursday by the Regulatory Council, the commercial value of certified cider is greater than 5 million euros.
In addition to the increase in sales of traditional natural cider in hospitality (82%), this organization has highlighted the increase in national sales up to 6 percent.
However, sparkling natural ciders have decreased by 13 percent, according to the back labels requested by the wineries, to 134,000.
The Regulatory Council is “optimistic” for 2023 by trusting in being able to “return to absolute normality” that will allow “another growth in sales of Asturias Cider”.
In 2022, 3,252,731 kilograms of apples destined for DOP were delivered, 11.5% more than two years ago, and 2,331,650 liters were produced compared to 6,107,056 liters the previous year.
