Palma, Feb 1 (EFE).- Antonio Raillo, captain of Mallorca, has declared that he would “never” set Vinícius Júnior, the Brazilian winger of Real Madrid, as an example for his children, who visits the Son Moix stadium on Sunday, thus reviving a confrontation arose between both players in the first round of the Santander League.
Madrid beat Mallorca 4-1 on September 11 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium; Vinícius scored the second goal for his team and celebrated by dancing, something that the Mallorcan fans did not like.
«They are football things, I refer to what I have said and I will not say much more. If I have to set an example for my children tomorrow, I will set (Luka) Modric, (Karim) Benzema, but never him,” Raillo emphasized in statements to DAZN.
The Mallorca central defender had various clashes with Vinicius on that occasion. Shortly after, he told Diario de Mallorca: «Vinicius let him dance, but don’t miss it, don’t insult and don’t belittle his fellow professionals; then when he is branded as provocative he uses the joker of racism ».
On the last visit to Palma by Carlo Ancelotti’s team, who won 3-0 with two goals from Benzema and one from Vinícius, Raillo was widely criticized for a hard challenge against Rodrygo de Goes, also a Brazilian, who left the pitch almost without to walk.
Raillo first declared that the foul was Rodrygo’s because “he touched the ball first and he kicked me, but he’s wearing white and it’s a different criterion,” he assured, although later, when he saw the play repeated on television, he rectified: “I have seen my entrance to Rodrygo and it is stronger than I thought. In the end an injured teammate had to retire and that’s not good. Sometimes the feeling you get on the field is different”, acknowledged the Majorcan defender.
