Oviedo (EFE).- The manager of Residential Establishments for the Elderly (ERA), Ana Suárez, has assured this Tuesday that transportation to day centers for the elderly is guaranteed after having carried out a “transitory” contracting procedure until the award of a larger contract in about “three months”.
After expiring this Tuesday the validity of the contracts for the provision of this service in eleven facilities in the community, it has been decided to launch a contracting procedure of greater “agility” and “speed” that resolves the situation of a service that “most” of the companies that did so far will continue to provide, for which reason he has asked the workers for “tranquility”.
It is a “bridge” period with minor contracts, until the award of a larger one, in which, as Suárez has assured at a press conference, “the same benefit will be ensured.”
At a press conference, the ERA manager has apologized to the users, families and employees who have been affected by this situation.
Cooking and cleaning services, also guaranteed
As for kitchen and cleaning services, whose contracts also end today, he has ensured that they are guaranteed and that the award will be “shortly”.
Suárez explained that the delays in the contracts are due to the fact that the administration is “very guaranteeing” in the processing of these files, together with the worker mobility process that has affected a large part of the ERA employees who manage these matters.
In this sense, he has hoped that “everything works as it should” before the middle of this year.
The manager of the ERA has reported that there are currently two day centers closed, although the one in Los Canapés will open soon “with few users” and the one in Sotrondio will do so “a little later”, because an outbreak has been detected. EFE
