Oviedo (EFE).- Dozens of people have gathered this Saturday in Oviedo to ask the administrations to reverse the agreement for the redevelopment of the land of the old arms factory of La Vega, whose “main axis is the ball town”.
This has been stated by Flor Tejo, one of the spokespersons for the citizen platform “Salvemos La Vega”, convener of the protest that took place in front of the headquarters of the Principality’s Presidency, with the participation of political formations such as Podemos, Foro and IU , among other groups.
According to Tejo, the Government of the Principality, the Oviedo City Council and the Ministry of Defense “do not see a heritage and historical complex”, but only a space “for pure and hard urban speculation” and has pointed out to the Asturian president, Adrián Barbón, as “guilty” for the signing to take place.
The spokeswoman regretted that the administrations do with the agreement, which is expected to be signed in the near future, a “big deal”, which “all citizens will have to pay for”.
After defending the protection and comprehensive rehabilitation of the land, he stressed, however, that the mobilizations of recent months have made it possible to reverse the construction of the 25-meter-high tower or the demolition of the chalets, he detailed.
In this sense, he has assured that there are still “many achievements to be achieved”, such as getting the motorway diversion to be paralyzed.
“We want to stop being the city of lost opportunities and we want to return to being a benchmark for all of Spain”, he pointed out in statements to journalists after regretting that the Asturian president and the mayor of Oviedo, Alfredo Canteli, maintain “silence” before the meeting request of the platform.
