Madrid (EFE).- The song “LLYLM” (“Lie like you love me”) by Rosalía has been leaked in its entirety through social networks hours before the official launch, scheduled for next midnight, and after the artist made a 35-second snippet public on Twitter.
The release of the new single comes as Rosalía’s most triumphant year at an international level is about to close, whose new song seems called upon to certify her status as a global artist, with its title and part of its lyrics in English.
“And it is that today is carnival, I am from here and you are from there, I will say it in English and you will understand me,” sings the artist between palms.
Se trata de los versos que interpreta justo antes del estribillo, íntegro en el idioma de Shakespeare, y que ya había presentado a sus seguidores: «I don’t need honesty / Baby, lie like you love me, lie like you love me / Cover me in a dream. I’ll be yours, our fantasy / Who need the honesty / Baby, lie like you love me, lie like you love me / Maybe the happy end becomes real enough for me».
Rosalía’s new song is the first that she has published solo in English
It is not the first time that Rosalía has composed in English, but it is the first time that she has published something in this language solo, since she was co-author and co-performer of “Barefoot In The Park”, a 2019 song in which she sang with the musician British James Blake, and also from the new version he recorded of “Blinding Lights” with The Weeknd in 2020.
Likewise, on his first album, “Los Angeles” (2017), he included a reinterpretation of “I See a Darkness”, an original by Will Oldham that Johnny Cash also sang in the past.
«LLYLM» («Lie like you love me») will arrive just ten months after the publication of his acclaimed third studio album, «MOTOMAMI» (2022), which specialized critics placed among the best of the world music crop of 2022 .
