Seville, (EFE).- The labor market in Andalusia closed 2022 with 56,800 fewer unemployed (6.9%) compared to the previous year, bringing the total number of unemployed to 764,900 and with a maximum occupation of 3,261,200, despite that in the fourth quarter the dynamism in the creation of employment and the reduction in unemployment slowed down.
According to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA), published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics, in the fourth quarter of 2022 unemployment fell by 3,400 people, 0.44%, and employment fell by 19,400 (0 .51%), although throughout the year it increased by 11,400 employed persons (0.35%).
The unemployment rate in Andalusia stood at 19% compared to the 12.87% national average and the Andalusian active population grew by 45,500 people, 1.12% more than in 2021.
Cádiz leads the unemployed in Andalusia
By provinces, Cádiz leads the highest unemployment rate, at 25%, followed by Huelva, with 21.7%; Granada and Malaga, with more than 19%; Córdoba and Jaén, with more than 17%, and Seville and Almería with 16%.
The behavior of the Andalusian labor market in 2022 was better than that of Spain in terms of the evolution of unemployment, which in Andalusia fell by 6.9% compared to 2.5% nationally, while employment rose more in the country than in the region.
Thus, the Spanish labor market closed 2022 with 20.46 million jobs, 278,900 more than at the beginning of the year, with a negative fourth quarter in which employment fell by 81,900, the largest decrease for this period since 2013.
According to the Active Population Survey (EPA), published this Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the number of unemployed also rose this quarter by 43,800 people compared to the previous one, once again exceeding the barrier of 3 million unemployed.
In the year, the total number of unemployed has been reduced by 79,900 people with a rate of 12.87%. EFE
