Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- Nueva Canarias (NC) will have more than 2,000 candidates in the next municipal and regional elections in May, in which it will present candidacies in at least 65 municipalities on the islands, in the seven councils and in Parliament, and will achieve “the best results in its history,” according to its president, Román Rodríguez.
In a press conference offered this Saturday, Rodríguez reported on the agreements adopted by the national executive of his party in the face of the electoral process, which will carry the motto “With you we govern”, an “absolutely Canarian” term and which refers to the people, the raison d’être of politics and institutions” and how NC interprets it, has remarked.
NC is a party with the will to govern and manage the interests of the people, with history, and has demonstrated its high capacity for transformation in the institutions where it governs, stressed Rodríguez, who for this reason and for the data they handle is convinced that The results in these elections will improve, especially in Gran Canaria due to the work of the president of the Cabildo, Antonio Morales, who has no doubt that he will once again aspire to preside over the island institution.
“Antonio Morales will be the candidate for the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and will continue to be the president because the Canary Islands need his work and great team,” stressed Rodríguez, who pointed out that the party has set February 15 as the deadline to decide the pending candidacies.
According to the agreement adopted by the NC executive, the electoral committee of the party will have four bodies; one linked to the campaign and for which the Parliamentary spokesman, Luis Campos, will be responsible, who in addition to directing the campaign will be the spokesperson.
The strategy, analysis and communication body that has been formed will be led by political scientist Ayose Corujo, while the mayor of Tacoronte, Daniel Díaz, will be in charge of legal advice for electoral alliances, and the vice president of Parliament will be in charge of the budget and finances. The Secretary of Organization of NC, Carmelo Ramírez, in addition to Rodríguez, will also form the electoral committee, as well as other members of the party yet to be designated.
Regarding the electoral program, the NC leader has said that it is being finalized, although he has indicated that it contains proposals for each area, be it environmental, social, economic or self-government.
The party has “a country plan because it believes in the Canary Islands and its future”, it also has “courage and courage” and young and experienced people and offers “security, certainty, experience and rigor.”
Rodríguez has stressed that his party “starts the campaign stronger and more united than ever” and that he still hopes to achieve new alliances with six other political forces ahead of the elections. EFE
