Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE) euros and a term of execution of three years.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health recalls that in September it opened the contracting procedure, after correcting the previous bidding process, and having the authorization of the modification of multi-year spending by the Governing Council.
This, he explains, has allowed him to award the project and start the construction of the tower for pediatric care, as well as the Gynecology and Obstetrics tower in the health area, once the corresponding administrative procedures have been completed.
The works of the new tower correspond to the second phase of the expansion and reform project of the Complejo Universitario Insular-Materno Infantil and are co-financed, 85 percent, through the European Regional Development Fund, within the political objective 4.5 of the Canary Islands Operational Program 2021-2027.
The new tower of the Maternal and Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands will have nine floors, two below ground level and seven high.
“The project, given the complexity of the work to be carried out with the hospital operating without the possibility of stopping its activity, has been divided into three phases and a fourth of urbanization to be carried out during the execution of those”, details the Ministry.
The new building will house the Neonatology units, comprehensive Oncology and Hematology care, infant hospitalization floors, Pediatrics and surgery, a brief infant-juvenile hospitalization unit, Rehabilitation and a breast unit, among other services.
The new Pediatric tower will be connected to the two hospital buildings already in operation (the Torre del Mar and the original Materno building). EFE
