Oviedo, Jan 20 (EFE).- A 60-year-old man died this Friday when he tried to cross with his tractor an area flooded by the heavy rains recorded in Asturias in recent days in the town of La Granda de Logrezana, in the council de Carreño, as reported by the Civil Guard.
The event occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the deceased was driving his tractor along the Los Molinos municipal road, which was closed to traffic due to flooding caused by heavy rains.
However, the tractor driver tried to cross the flooded area, where the accumulated water reached a height of two meters, and could not get out of there.
The 112 notified the firefighters of Asturias and the Civil Guard, who did not have to intervene, since the corpse of the tractor driver was taken out of the water by a local police officer and a firefighter from Carreño who had arrived in the area alerted by the neighbors.
Health personnel tried unsuccessfully to revive this man, who is the first fatality from the storm registered in the Principality.
